History

Scottsdale Mint was founded in Arizona in 2008 by Josh Phair, who remains its owner and chief executive. It is a privately held company, not a government mint, and designs, makes and distributes gold and silver products.

In 2022 it bought the former Casper Star-Tribune building in Casper, Wyoming, and opened an expanded facility there that now houses its coining, melting, vaulting and packaging operations. It also makes legal-tender coins under contract for more than 20 nations, with clients including the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and the Reserve Bank of Fiji. Its own lines include the Silver Stacker series of interlocking 99.9% fine silver rounds and bars.
