Engelhard's palladium output was even more limited than its platinum production - the company's core business was industrial applications of platinum group metals, and collector pieces were a small sideline. The few palladium bars and rounds Engelhard produced are among the most obscure items in precious metals collecting. Documentation is sparse; even the definitive AllEngelhard reference catalogs only a small number of known varieties. Palladium's sharp rise in value since 2006 - the metal briefly surpassed gold prices around 2019-2020 - has brought more attention to these pieces than they ever received when new.
