About This Series
Congress authorized the American Palladium Eagle in 2010, but the US Mint did not strike the first coin until 2017 due to sourcing and demand uncertainty for the metal. It is 1 troy ounce of .9995 fine palladium with a $25 face value. The design reuses Adolph Weinman's 1907 obverse and reverse from the American Institute of Architects' gold medal - the same "Winged Liberty" figure familiar from the Mercury dime. Initial-year mintage was bullion-only in limited numbers; later years have added periodic proof strikes.
