About This Series
The Presidential dollar series issued four coins per year honoring US presidents in order of service, running from George Washington in 2007 through Ronald Reagan in 2016, with George H.W. Bush added in 2020. Each coin carries edge lettering with the date, mintmark, and the two national mottoes. Early strikes from 2007 to 2011 produced "plain edge" error coins missing the edge lettering, common enough to find in rolls and now a popular collecting niche. Living presidents were excluded from the series, so several recent presidents remain uncelebrated. The program was aimed at collectors more than everyday circulation.
