About This Series
The American Innovation dollar program launched in 2018 to highlight one innovation from each state, DC, and the five US territories - 56 designs total when complete in 2032. Justin Kunz's shared obverse shows the Statue of Liberty holding a torch. Like Presidential dollars, edge lettering carries the date and mint mark. The program has generated less collector enthusiasm than the State Quarters or America the Beautiful series, though complete date-and-mint runs attract dedicated collectors. Most coins end up in government-issued sets rather than circulation; the US Mint has kept production numbers low compared to earlier circulating dollar programs.
