What differs
- The American Silver Eagle is legal-tender coinage struck by the United States Mint, and its weight, content and purity are set by US statute.
- A generic round is a private-mint product with no face value. "Generic" pools rounds from many makers, so design, maker and stated fineness vary from one round to the next.
- Both hold one troy ounce of silver, so their melt values are identical; the whole difference in what sellers ask is premium.
